Sixty shades of blue were brought to the table by our magnificent community this week, leaving the editors both impressed and suffering from exhaustion from the time put in savoring each and every entry. And it was totally worth it.
In second we have Tara from Thin Spiral Notebook. She drew us in with the layers of blue in this mysterious and fantastic tale of fire that's cold as ice. Be sure to check it out if you haven't already. Third place goes to Mark Windham who shows us the colors of grief.
Congratulations to our winners; thanks for sharing your awesome with us week after week.
Before we move on to the new challenge, we have a bit of a teaser. As you know, we're a bit, ahem, consumed with the number three. And Monday will mark our 33rd challenge. We've got something special up our sleeves and we hope that you'll all be here to play along. Tie a string around your finger, mark your calendars, set an alarm on your phone. Whatever you do, be sure to show up. It's going to be fun.
On to the weekend prompt. This week we're revisiting an early Trifextra prompt: retelling. This time, we're asking you to retell your favorite book. In 33 words. Nothing like a challenge. We are sure you're up to it.
Rash-me-ramble took first this week with her melodic and perfectly-chosen words.
Scissored thoughtscut throughthat softly rainy daywhen the mist made a monocle of my glassesand i sat, a hollow one-eyed whisper, rummaging through that cup-boardof carefully folded wordswhich turned aroundand bit the day into a hideous blue, and dashed ahead, coloring days pastin that unhappy hue, connived with the moth ballsand choked my silky stolen glances, trampled on my many ignored missives, mocking me and my misplaced faith in them.how do i string them back togetherand re-plait my timid memoriesout of those blue blue lettersthat are dancing away, out of reacheven as i writethis last pleading line.

Love that opening!! Awesome!
Oops..if I could get it together for one comment! Thank you for the prompt...retelling! Good fun!
DeleteThis "retell" challenge is not fair...haha.
ReplyDeleteMaybe not fair, but fun! Especially since I was introduced to some new books that will make it on my summer reading list.
ReplyDeleteThe hard part is not the retelling, it's choosing my favorite book. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the kudos, and congrats to the other top three, and all the other Trifectans for so many wonderful entries.
ReplyDelete@trudgingthroughfog My thoughts exactly - which book do I choose? Maybe a collection of short stories: Murderous Housewife + gambling devil + over-reaching gourmand etc...
ReplyDelete:) Thank you, Trifecta. It sure is a privilege to see my thoughts printed on the Trifecta page. Congratulations Mark and Tara :)
ReplyDeleteAll writings this week were beautiful, and these were excellent choices, all!
ReplyDeleteI agree about this retelling prompt; the book was hard to choose. Then, in a wickedly funny moment, I realized... I should try the Bible. "Let the heresy begin!" And with that, the pastor's wife found seven veils and...

Is it exactly 33 words, or up to 33 words for the challenge?
ReplyDeleteExactly.
DeletePer your request, please ignore Fordidden Second for judging purposes. It really was intended as a humorous throwaway. Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteTrifecta,
ReplyDeleteI was visiting Rosemary Mint and her post directed me here...Not sure which prompt/challenge your count down is for...as it was still ticking, but at the bottom it said it the link/collection was closed. No matter I still enjoyed penning:
