From horror to humor and everything in between, you drew us in with your opening lines and left us wanting more. Our first place winner, Misener Miscellany, definitely did both for us both with humor and by letting us in on an alternate reality that most definitely has some drama in its future.
Congratulations to all our winners. We hope to see some of those beginnings providing inspiration for longer works.
And now, back to it. Normal, that is. As normal as it gets around these parts, anyway. Remember, as always we are looking for the THIRD definition of the word. (Please note that this week's word is a NOUN.)
We'll meet you back here on Friday for the winners of this challenge as well as the longer challenge and, of course, the weekend prompt. Write well.
The Universe ended on a Tuesday, which was confusing to Farley Trumatter, for the latest itinerary in his possession had the “Great Whimper” scheduled for Friday; obviously, he shouldn’t have missed that meeting.Taking second place, Linda Vernon once again introduces us to a world we'd happily inhabit for hours with her whimsical style and fantastic character names. In third, we have Trudging Through Fog with her lovingly crafted and beautiful opener that has our curiosity piqued.
Congratulations to all our winners. We hope to see some of those beginnings providing inspiration for longer works.

Miser Miscellany wrote a tremendous piece! I was indeed very impressed and awed - CONGRATULATIONS to a well deserved first place!
ReplyDeleteThat really was an amazing first place entry :) Congratulations to all the winners!!
ReplyDeleteMegan J. Wille :)
This totally made my Monday! Thanks! Of course, now I feel pressured to continue the story...
ReplyDeleteThank you all very much. It's a privilege to get feedback from so many talented writers.
ReplyDeleteI don't get how to use normal as a noun. Help, please?
ReplyDeleteMerriam-Webster at the link above gives a couple examples: "back to normal," "higher than normal." it's a tough one though. (I also responded via Twitter - my iPad didn't want to post here for some reason, until now.)
DeleteIt is definitely a tricky one! There's also the "we're adjusting to our new normal" or a "just like normal". Once you can get your brain working down that road, it kind of becomes easier to think up ways to use it, but I struggled quite a bit to get there myself. What can we say--it's a challenge. :-) Good luck!
ReplyDeleteMine is posted to my blog, and I hope I've used 'normal' correctly.
ReplyDeleteI had fun with this but using "normal" as a noun was a bit of a brain teaser.
ReplyDeleteWordpress sent Trifecta's comment on my entry to the spam folder:( Has anyone had similar problems with Wordpress?
ReplyDeleteYep- mine did that with them yesterday, too. Every now and then, it will send a regular commenter to spam. No idea why.
