Trifecta: Week Eighty-Seven

Welcome back, Trifectans!  Judging this weekend was particularly difficult due to the sheer volume of quality posts piled one on top of the other in our linky.  Winnowing our winners down to only three was tortuous work.  But the winners we chose are wonderful and well worth a second look.

Brian from pinionpost is no stranger to the winner's circle.  He knocked us out once again with The Bells, a compelling and darkly ambiguous piece that leaves the interpretation in the hands of the reader.
The old man stands on the lighted stage, stooped and shaking. Others, mere knobby shadows, wait their turn in the darkness behind him.
The bells ring, and the man’s eyes begin to water.
Kir brings home the silver with Concession, an intimate love poem that defines the word bittersweet.  Jenna from Jenna's Attic takes third with Letting Go, a piece that brings back the familiar sting of heartbreak in a flood of senses and emotions.

Congrats, winners!  Thank you for putting your blood on the page week after week.

This week's prompt was suggested to us by Rois who linked up with our Meet Your Fellow Trifectans meme.  If you haven't linked up there yet, please do.

  1. There were a lot of gems this weekend, peeps. You all did a fantastic job rising to the challenge of fitting those three words into a 33-word piece. Congrats to the winners! Let's see what you all can cook up this week.

  2. congrats all - beautiful words penned this week. Y'all certainly know how to charm us. :)

  3. Congratulations to everyone, your words literally blew me away this weekend, had me sighing and grinning, even some had tears filling my eyes.

I am so proud to be part of this community.

(and thank you for the Silver...I am, um, humbled (there are no words that come easily.)

  4. Congratulations to the winners!

I'm honoured that you decided to use my suggestion for this week's challenge. I am more Trifextra participant than Trifecta, but this week I should do my best to take part in this one.

  5. Congrats to the winners! I enjoyed reading your entries.

This prompt is a toughy. I think it would be easy to mistakenly use the first definition (a or b). Way to keep us on our toes, Rois! ;)

  6. Congratulations all winners! Congratulations to Brian, that was definitely out side the box. I enjoyed reading everyone's that I could to.

  7. Congratulations, Brian and Kirsten and Jenna!! I enjoyed reading all of the entries I was able to read. Always disappointed that I can read everyone's.

    1. No, I'm not. I'm always disappointed when I CAN'T read everyone's!

Note to self: don't type when eyes are still partly closed.

  8. Well done everyone, what a great writing community this is..!

  9. Is the tally under entries new? Will we be able to see the number of votes entries recieve?

  10. What a knucklehead! My first time participating and I missed the voting time! I am so sorry, everyone! Congrats to the winners and I promise to do better next time!!
