Trifecta: Week Ninety-Eight

Welcome back, spooksters!  We thoroughly enjoyed reading each creepy, hilarious or creepily hilarious entry this weekend.  We love the places your minds take us and we look forward to wherever you'll be sending us during the rest of this haunted month.

First place goes to Paul Clements with Double Sacrifice, a gruesome and disturbing departure from the zombie take.
We watched on,
Indifferent to her terror; apathetic to her cries.
From the loch it emerged –

Trailing seaweed; dressed in algae.
A slimy claw ripped at her swollen belly.
We retreated,
Suddenly ashamed.
Second goes to Conscious Cacophony with From Murky Waters, featuring the most terrifying monster of them all.  El Guapo takes third this week with Wheerrrrreeee Isssss Ittttt?!?  This long-time, loyal Trifectan knows how to bring the funny and never fails to get a guffaw from the editors.  Check him out; we're sure that you'll agree.

Congrats, winners!  You made this weekend a ton of spooky fun.  Here's to a month full of spine-tingling creepiness.  And don't forget, we have a new Trifectan, and our first poem this year, up on the Current Critique tab.  Make sure to hop on over and give her some concrit.

We have a new Trifectan piece of writing up for your perusal.  Please take a minute to head over to our current critique and leave some feedback for this brave Trifectan.  You don't have to be an expert in writing, poetry or grammar to let her know how it reads to you.

And now, the weekly prompt.  Make sure you're using the THIRD definition of the word, as always.  Good luck and bottoms up!

  4. Many thanks to the Trifectan judges for giving me my first first! Means a heck of a lot to me; reinforces my belief that I have it in me to make a decent stab at this writing malarkey. I plan on celebrating with 333 Zombie fuelled words!

  7. Congratulations.. to the winners, the weekend prompt was to me a zombie.. and it feels like a relief to have a story almost lacking monsters this week. Cheers...

  8. Oh Fuck. Do you have any idea how BUSY I am this week? And how much I CANNOT miss this opportunity to have someone drinking a zombie? Expect me at the 11th hour.

  9. We have house guests for half the week, and are heading out on vacation for the other half. I'm more likely to drink a zombie than write about one, I think. Then again, that's kind of okay by me.
